Google did quite much with fanfare when it launched its Android
Lollipop operating system officially in October 2014. They even launched some
new Devices like Nexus 9 tablet, Nexus 6 Smartphone and Nexus Player Stream Box
along side. However, these were the only devices which actually feature the new
update and not many devices have been able to receive the update, to the date.
Manufacturers and carriers also didn’t mention any specific time when they will
be releasing updates for Android Lollipop. In the previous figures of Google,
Lollipop didn’t even make it to the charts as it was below 0.1% use and this
was mainly due to the fewer number of devices having access to lollipop 5.0
update.
In the latest figures by Google, it shows that android 5.0 Lollipop is
installed on 1.6% of Android devices. So this is quite an improvement as
compared to the last results. The total number of users of Android 4.4 KitKat
has also increased a bit from 39.1% to 39.7%. Jelly bean still gets the largest
piece of the pie with 44.5% total users.
