Hulu CEO Kilar Leaving The Company

One of the best video streaming company Hulu, will now be facing a downfall in its governance. The Hulu CEO Jason kilar and CTO Rick Tom have decided to step down form its position by the end of March. Company’s CEO is making sure that the company after him will be running in the same way. He responded to staffers that he has been corresponding to the board of directors to ensure there is enough runway to manage this transition and also said that his decision was very difficult for him to take. He didn’t disclosed the reason for his resignation , but if we review the company’s profit last year so it was not that good . The company lost nearly $700 million last year . But now its growing very fast as it has 200,000 paying subscribers. Kilar also mentioned that last month the company had 3 million paying subscribers.

Background Of Hulu

Hulu was founded in 2007 by Jason Kilar with MSN, AOL,Facebook,Comcast,MySpace and Yahoo as initial distribution partners. After that NBC,News Corporation became parent companies to the Hulu and started showing returns of ABC,NBC,Fox shows free on the site. After that company added $10 monthly subscription charges in order to watch shows on the site which was later cut to $8 after few months.
The CEO also said that , Richard Tom, senior vice president and Chief Technology Officer , will also leave the company at the same time , which means the company will face two losses at the same time. This doesn't mean that company will be shutdown , well it would an opportunity that company will now have time to think some new changes to the business plan.

Hulu parent companies appreciates the accomplishments and the hard work of Jason kilar who changed the Hulu from an interesting idea into a business model. Jason kilar did a great job which made Hulu one the best video-streaming websites today in US and Japan. The parent companies wishes him a very good luck for his next venture.
