Microsoft Surface – A Financial Failure With Just $853M in Revenue

Microsoft Surface project is now facing some failures in gaining people attention. The market profit of Surface has not made the company happy.Microsoft has just released in its 2013 10-K SEC filing that surface project was not able to make a good revenue and ended up with just $853 million. Microsoft’s inventory adjustment which was $900, million was larger than the sum of all Surface sales, that’s an expensive failure. Microsoft attributed an $898 million increase in advertising costs with Windows 8 and Surface efforts but still the project was not successful as expedited.Off course when company invested a lot in Surface project , they expected to see great results which went totally down. Microsoft is known to use $1 billion figure to validate successful business and Surface project just went till $853 million,The company was expecting $147 million more to mark this project as successful.
