Chinese Smartphone Market Gaining Momentum – 110 Million Smartphones Sold In Second Quarter

China is a hub for major smartphone sales in the world. After the launch of Apple’s new iPhone by China Mobile , it was recorded that smartphone sales got a super boost. According to China Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report by IDC, the smartphone sales in China reached 110 million in the second quarter of 2013. It is expected to grow more in the coming year. The smartphone shipments grew by 10 percent on a quarterly basis to reach 86 million during this period. Due to the strong demand from the customers, the smartphone sale will reach 360 million by the end of year 2013. As you know , The smartphone war between the major companies like Apple, Samsung ,HTC and many other is increasing tremendously. All these companies are coming with creative smartphone ideas  that are attracting more and more customers to their stores.


As you know China has been issued the 4G license so it is expected that in the coming 2014 , Chinese Smartphone market will grow more and Smartphone shipments will increase to 450 million in 2014. According to Antonio Wan from IDC China,

"The Smartphone market has maintained a two-digit quarter-on-quarter growth rate in Q2 due to two reasons,First, the substantial shipments of low-end Smartphones at a unit price of less than $130 that support China Mobile's 3G network. Second, the shipments prepared by mobile phone vendors to meet the market demands of students during the summer vacation".

Chinese Operating System market is also expected to grow in the coming year. It is expected to experience a healthy competition due to development of Firefox OS , Tizen  and Linux-based Aliyun OS. Apple’s cooperation with China seems very lucky and the launch of Low –Cost iPhone 5C is an important factor in boosting OS market . It is expected that OS market of China will boost rapidly in 2014.  Senior analyst for China Mobile Phone Market IDC China James Yan said ,

“The sharp increase in shipments of low-end China Mobile smartphones has driven the growth of Lenovo and Cool pad.On a separate note, affected by the sluggish sales of iPhone 5, Apple's market share has declined dramatically, but its performance is expected to remarkably improve with the launch of the new iPhone.”

Chinese consumers love big screen Smartphones. that why all the smartphones having 5 inch plus screens are playing an important role in boosting China Smartphone market. Samsung and Apple are on the top with big screen sales. 4G internet is also one of the important factor which will be adopted by 32 million smartphone in China by the end of this year.
