Netflix Takes Advantage Of Torrenting Sites To Check Which Shows To Add Next

Illegal downloading is very common on the internet. Most likely people go on torrenting websites to download their favorite shows easily. Why people would pay dollars to buy their favorite show , if they are getting it free on torrent websites. People know this is illegal but still they continue to do that. Netflix has came up with a great solution for the people who can get all the shows and movies they want  only for few dollars a month. But how Netflix will know your interest, which show you like ? here it is. Netflix will now be checking all the torrent websites to see which show is being watched and downloaded the most to add that show in their network. Company hopes that when you will have all your favorite shows on a legal platform, you will stop downloading them illegally.

No one wants to do any illegal task , but high prices force people to go on illegal track and shortcuts. But if you have all your interesting shows only for few dollars a month , you will be more satisfied. One of the popular Dutch site Tweakers interviewed Netflix where the company admitted that pirate community is an important part in deciding which shows to add. The vice president of Content Acquisition Kelly Merryman said “ with the purchase of series, we look at what does well on piracy sites” . This phenomena has led Netflix to add Prison break recently, which was the most torrented show in Netherlands. This does not mean that all the popular shows on torrent websites will be added on Netflix , HBO shows like Game of Thrones or The Newsroom , they are off the limits. But other shows which are easy to easy to add , will be added on the basis of their popularity.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said,

Certainly there's some torrenting that goes on, and that's true around the world, but some of that just creates the demand. Netflix is so much easier than torrenting. You don't have to deal with files, you don't have to download them and move them around. You just click and watch.

That is a very good step from Netflix against piracy , which can decrease the piracy ratio on the internet.
