| Adam and Heather With Their baby Emma |
A couple named Heather and Adam Schreck went through a situation in which an intruder was watching and monitoring their 10-month baby Emma by hacking Baby monitoring camera which the couple installed to monitor their child. Here a question arises, Do monitoring cameras really get hacked.? I will answer the question in the last, first lets see what the hacker did with the couple.
The couple didn't knew about this hack attempt, they were only alerted once when they awoke in the middle of the night to a man's voice screaming at their Baby " Wake up baby!!". If you remember a scary scene from Insidious Movie , when the Rose Byme was playing piano where she hear's a haunting mans voice from her sons room through voice monitoring device, you might get an idea of the situation how it was for Heather and Adam.

Hearing strange mans voice, Heather ran into her baby room where she saw the camera positioned over the baby crib moving erratically.
Heather told fox news, "About the time I saw it moving, I also heard a voice again start screaming at my daughter, He was screaming, ‘Wake up baby. Wake up baby’. Then just screaming at her trying to wake her up".
When Adam joined heather in their baby room, camera turned over them and voice began shouting obscenities.
IT experts has commented that these type of hack attacks are common with people having security camera in their homes.
Now comes the question , Do monitoring camera really get hacked? , The answer is YES, and the reason to this is their weak configuration which is default by the company who develops that device. These cameras are sold with remote internet access and weak password security. This is a perfect gateway for hackers to remotely tap into the camera and hack your video surveillance.
According to tech experts, " Every internet connected device can be hacked easily".
The hack attempt which Heather and Adam faced can be happened to any one who uses Baby monitor. It is not that you should stop using Baby monitors but you can prevent hackers from taping into your camera. The solution is simple:
- Always change your default settings to custom and make a strong password.
- Change your Wi-Fi password.
- Turn on your firewall to build a line to defense against hackers.
These are few points which every parent should consider before buying monitoring cameras to prevent hack attempts which Adam and heather faced.
