Electric and Hybrid cars are now replacing the common fossil fuel cars which are powered by petrol and gasoline. Tesla brought a great revolution in the automobile industry by the discovery of its first electric car roadster in 2008. After the great success of Roadster, Tesla released its second electric car Model S which was the fully electric luxury sedan in 2012. The upcoming version which is being awaited is Model X, which will be delivered later this year. It seems like Tesla has planned about its coming 5 years, even before the release of Model X , CEO Elon Musk has revealed the name of its next upcoming Tesla model which will named as Model 3. This electric car will be companies fourth model , which will come after the release of Model X. This car will be a crossover that fits somewhere between Sedan and a spot utility vehicle that can fit upto 7 passengers.
Elon Musk told Autoexpress,
"The new model is going to be called Model III, We will have three bars to represent it and it will be S III X"
According to the report , Tesla Model 3 will compete BMW 3 Series directly because these two cars will be similar in shape. Before , Tesla had plan to nameits next electric car as Model E , but Ford put a Sue on company due to copyrights issues , as there vehicle is also being named with the last name as E. After that , Elon Musk decided of a new name and came up the three bars creative idea and named it as Model 3.
Elon Musk told , the Model 3 will use cheap batteries manufactured at Tesla US-Based Gigafactory and will have a range of 200 miles. He told ,that Model 3 will be the most affordable Tesla car which will priced at $35,000 and will go on sale in 2017. Are you excited about the upcoming Tesla Model 3.
