According to a Forbes report, Microsoft believes that the
time is right to launch its new Smartwatch
sector. In few weeks Microsoft will launch a Smartwatch which will come with health-tracking features such as
monitoring heart rate. The device will also be able to work with multiple
mobile platforms including iOS and Android. The battery timing will be approximately
2 days with average use. Microsoft is planning to launch the Smartwatch during the holiday shopping
season and believes it is the best time.
Microsoft is working on its Smartwatch sector far back in April 2013 and it is also reported that
it will resemble ‘Samsung’s Gear Fit’ and a full color screen with touch right
on your wrist. This not the first time Microsoft is getting into such activity.
In the past Microsoft partnered watchmakers such as Fossil, Swatch and Suunto
to create touchscreen models for watches which cost $800 each so Microsoft left
the project in 2008.
Consumers and Manufacture are recently quite interested in this
new wearable technology. Manufacturers are trying their best to provide
features which their competitors lack. Most of the current Smartwatches come
with a square design with the exceptions of LG and Motorola who went for circle
design for fashion appeal. Although, Microsoft’s focus is not on design of the
watch they are going for the key feature of the watch which is the reason
customer would buy one- Health.
Samsung’s Gear S came
with heart rate monitor, sleep tracking and pedometer and Microsoft’s rival
Apple also launched a new Smartwatch
recently which came with apps such as track heart rate, activity level, calories
burned and some fitness activities. Microsoft will have to offer features which
can surpass all these health oriented Smartwatches to dominate the market.
