Kevlar has always been used for protection against bullets.
However, researchers have come up with a better solution with superior
protection. Researchers have found that Graphene is the best material for the
production of bulletproof armors. Graphene material was first created in
laboratories in 2003, it’s very thin as well as transparent material. It is
pure carbon and also 100 times lighter as compared to steal in weight. Graphene
is also considered to be quite strong to resist against impacts and also has
the ability to conduct electricity and heat. The researchers at the University
of Massachusetts believe that graphene can protect against bullets shot in its
direction. They conducted some tests and it showed that graphene can absorb two
times more force than Kevlar and 8-10 times more force compared to standard
steel.
Though Graphene is quite strong and might provide more
resistance, but there is a small drawback. When an impact is made on graphene it
gets substantially stretched which means if more impacts are made on same area
it will result in less resistance. Perhaps this problem could solved if
graphene is merged with other materials.
