iDict Tool uses common passwords to hack into iCloud

Even though there have been many warnings about not using an easy to guess passwords such as “password” or “123456789” or “abc123” which are easier to remember and also easy to hack, but still many people use such passwords. The main reason people use such passwords is they believe there is quite a low chance of them getting hacked. Well, if you are one of them there is a bad news for you as there is a report of a tool uploaded on GitHub being called iDict which can hack your iCloud.

The tool is capable of guessing common passwords through sheer brute force and can also bypass Apple’s two-factor authentication. However, if you have used a strong password there is a good chance you won’t become target as the list of common passwords is limited to only 500 words which the tool uses for guessing. There is also good news that Apple has patched the vulnerability, which let the tool repeatedly enter passwords without being locked. Although, till the vulnerability was not patched the attack might already have effected some iCloud accounts so it is better to change the password and use a strong one that is hard for hackers to guess.
