Android 5.0 Lollipop is one of the most important and
biggest update to Google’s mobile operating system, but of course it does have
a big issue of fragmentation. Lollipop was first launched as an update on
November 12 and it has been nearly two months, but still it didn’t even get to
make any impression on Google’s official data report.
According to Google’s Developer Dashboard, that collected
data regarding the use of Latest Google Play store App, revealed that less than
0.1% devices are running Android Lollipop. You can see that in the graph above
as the Android Lollipop is not listed. The list is meant to exclude any version
of Android that has less than 0.1% impact.
Fragmentation should not be that much of a surprise
considering how few devices actually have access to Android Lollipop. Only
Google’s Nexus Family, LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 have the updates and also in
just few regions. Android KitKat has actually received an increase in the mean
time. KitKat was at 30.2% in the November but now it has managed to go up to
39.1% of Android devices.
