Google and Microsoft Working Together To Decrease False Positives in Anti-Virus Software

It is quite common with Anti-Virus programs do make a false alarm, we download something we trust and anti-virus gives an already that a suspicious thing is detected even though we are 100% sure the file is completely fine. In some cases Apps are not Whitelisted or their behavior is a bit suspicious for Anti-virus programs. Well the good news is, Google and Microsoft are finally doing something about it with their new project ‘Trusted Source”. The project will focus on taking care of false positives that arise in Anti-Virus Industry. Currently, Google and Microsoft are working together get rid of false positives in Windows.

The working will be quite simple, developers will provide their files in a catalog to whitelist them and Anti-virus companies will be contacted if these files are detected. This might not seem much of a big deal but it actually is quite a big flaw as this can directly affect the trust of the users who is using the program. This can also hinder work of support team as they might waste time on these false positives when there are bigger issues to handle. User might also not be able to work as they will not use the software thinking it is affected.
