Of all the obscure British automakers you might never have heard of, Ultima is one of the most remarkable. The manufacturer has been developing supercars that could be mistaken to get a Group C racer or Daytona Prototype for over two decades now, and it has just launched what guarantees to be the most dominant version yet.
The brand new Ultima Evolution is based on the exact same Lee Noble design as the Ultima GTR and the Ultima Sports before it, but it is installed with a long list of upgrades and advancements. It features enhanced amounts of fit and finish, high-quality paint, improved ergonomics, LED lights, much more carbon-fiber components, streamlined aerodynamics, updated interior gear... pretty much something the boys at Ultima could improve, they did.
All of which is nicely and good, especially for the company's customers who've been asking for the advancements, but what tends to make Ultima's supercar fantastic is its energy to excess weight ratio. Motivation comes from a Chevrolet V8 crate engine that may be experienced in fifteen various states of the tune starting from 350 horsepower all the way as much as 1,020 in the top-of-the-line supercharged edition. But the Evolution only weighs about 1 ton - two,094 lbs, to be precise - providing it a far greater ratio than simply about anything on the road.
That means in leading trim, the Ultima Evolution will run to 60 miles for each hour in a scarcely believable two.3 seconds, hit 100 in 4.9 and to one hundred fifty in eight.nine. It will dash the quarter-mile in 9.two seconds, run 0-100-0 in 8.eight seconds and leading out at over 240 miles for each hour. Allow there be no error about it: those are certifiably insane performance figures. Even in the 480-hp spec it will strike 60 in 3.1 seconds. In other words, the Ultima Evolution should not have any trouble beating the many globe records the preceding GTR has already claimed, and lots of that it did not. Expect lap records, pace information and acceleration records to begin dropping like dominoes.
Ultima will now concentrate on creating the Evolution as it retires the GTR, with the open-roof Evolution convertible to replace the outgoing Can-Am, also. Both will be available as kits you develop yourself or as turn-key automobiles straight from the factory.
