Today, hackers attacked one of the leading cable and broadcasting company Comcast by stealing over 590,000 accounts and sold them on Dark Web Marketplace. If you received an email from Comcast for password reset, then you might be in the list of people who's account information was stolen. This information is being sold for $300 for 100,000 accounts and complete list for $1000. This information can be used by online marketers for selling their product. The interesting part was, only 200,000 accounts were active, which are already reset by Comcast, while the rest were no more valid. Now if anyone has used the same password associated with their Comcast account to some other services, it will be very easy for a person to take over someone's account using a password reset option. Comcast is still investigating on how the information was stolen, it might be the result of the earlier breaches or phishing attacks. According to the CSO 1 sale is already made.
