According to Recode, Walgreens and CVS will be the first two biggest pharmacy giants in US to support Apple's new payment service. Apple’s mobile payment system will allow shoppers wave or tap their phone at checkout terminals using a wireless technology known as near field communication, or NFC, to transmit payment information from a phone to a store’s checkout system. Upcoming iPhone 6 is expected to be the first Apple device to include NFC technology. Users can authenticate the payment using Touch ID. Sources predicts that Apple’s payment system may in some cases employ additional wireless technologies either in conjunction with, or in place of, NFC.
Apple and Walgreens has declined to comment on the news , however CVS spokesperson Mike DeAngeles said, "We don’t know what Apple may be planning in terms of a payment system so it is not possible for us to say whether it is something our stores may be able to accept".
The expected acceptance of the new Apple payment system by the two biggest pharmacy chains in USA will give a huge start to Apple. Shoppers in USA have so far failed to adopt mobile payment system like Google Wallet but industry analyst and executes believe that Apple could change that. Lets see how Apple manages to change the way people pay for their shopping.
