Your Car’s Windshield might just become a Traffic Light

Recently, Technology and Auto Industry are having some great collaboration. However, as far as Windshield is concerned, there hasn’t been much focus. The main reason could be its need of being completely clean in order to provide greatest vision. Though some people did try to introduce some technology to windshield, like Heads Up Display (HUD) technology, but none has been able to effectively use windshield like the researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have. So what they have done for it? Well, how about displaying virtual traffic lights right on your Windshield?

People will be able to see virtual Traffic lights on the Windshield on-demand – this can completely change how a person drives. A spokesperson said, if people start using virtual traffic lights instead of the traditional ones, commute times for urban workers can be decreased up to 40%. According to Ozan Tonguz, a professor from the same University, who also assisted with this project, these virtual traffic lights will be used on demand when two vehicles are on their way in order to cross an intersection. If only one car should go then the light will turn down.
