The biggest problem of today’s world of internet is Cyber
security. Every now and then we get to hear about companies being target of
cyberattacks that lead to compromising user information. In most cases
companies are on their own and they never work together on this these matters,
however, Facebook wants to help. Facebook has launched an API-based
platform called ThreatExchange which is focused to bring companies together to
share security threat information. The platform will only be used by web companies
and there they can share malware, phishing attempts and malicious links that
they see in their services.
At start, Tumblr, Pinterest, Yahoo, Twitter, Bitly and Dropbox
are participating in ThreatExchange. They share all the new information they
will collect to help other companies fight with same issues or make the
required tweaks or protect from them. Some of the features of Facebook are used
in ThreatExchange, like the platform will be able to look for connection between
different threats. The companies which will be participating will also be able
to decide the privacy of information they will be sharing.
