Microsoft on Wednesday 26 at Developers Conference in San Francisco, revealed the first preview of Windows 8.1 , which is an improved operating system of 2013. The Tech giant has worked a lot on this freshly pressed OS to make it acceptable by every PC and Laptops. Windows 8.1 modern interface (UI) has a lot for the users but it will become more clear when it will be experienced by users on this desktop. Ten months back when Windows 8 came to official release , people had a lot of expectation but the OS was unable to gain much popularity. The main problem which users faced was the Start Button option .
Windows 8.1 is back with the Start Button , which will give you the feel of using Windows 7. Below is the hands On Preview of Windows 8.1.
Start Button
Windows 8.1 is installed with the previous Start button option like back in Windows 7. It has came to its right spot. The main function of the Start button in Windows 8.1 is to call up the Start Screen application tiles. It will not take you out of desktop when you will click the button. Instead , a semi-transparent panel of Modern UI will come at the top of the screen , allowing you to choose any kind of application. In-short , the Start Button in Windows 8.1 has brought all the option From Windows 7 but with a different look.
Snap View
One of the major changes in Windows 8.1 is the new “Snap-View” feature , which will allow you to open multiple applications at the same on one screen. You can run up-to eight apps at the same time but it is only possible when you have 2 high resolution of monitors which is 2560 x 1600 . Don’t worry if you don't have these monitors, you can still open 2 applications. In Windows 8.1 , you can customize the space of each app on the screen. If you want to highlight your favorite application ,you can customize to half of screen and the rest on the other half. Customization of the widgets is more easy now.
Application Improvement
Applications in the new Windows 8.1 are more enhanced. If you want to search for any favorite singer on Bing search app, you will have all the play links to that artist with integrated albums to your results.
Skype calling has been enhanced with improved integration . Now you can answer the Skype call with computer locked. You don't have to unlock your computer in order to receive the call.
SkyDrive Cloud Storage is improved with no reconfiguration every time you switch to a new Windows 8.1 device . It will sync all your windows and app settings on the fly. Files will feel more native now.
Technical Details
Microsoft not only improved major options but it has worked on the every little technical details to get good output results. For example , Working on two monitors with Windows 8.1 will give you a great result with independently scaling adjustments so that all the elements on both the screen looks proportioned. Before that , with Windows 8 , There was a major problem when using the Surface Pro with an external monitor.
Start Screen optimization is made easy. You can adjust the applications and give names to the groups according to your needs. You can move the entire groups at once during the process the personalizing the Start Screen instead of moving one by one.
Microsoft Windows 8.1 has a lot of improvements . These were just a few which came to our knowledge during the preview. When the users will experience it in real they might know what Windows 8.1 has in it. Microsoft is the technology giant, Whatever we cannot think they even built it . How about having hand gesture technology in Further upcoming Windows, Like the new Xbox One hand gesture technology. It should replace the touch technology. In the upcoming years , Microsoft might come up with it. who knows . But for now Windows 8.1 is great. This release is just for software developers . The final version of the Windows 8.1 will be available after holiday season.
