Today , Apple posted a job listing on its website looking to hire a Payments Software Engineer to build a next generation online payment platform. Apple’s next move is to make its retail payment system more enhanced with its own developed payment system. Currently , Apple uses a custom housing for the iPod touch with a combination of third party hardware to process the payments in its retail stores and also has its own Apple Store iOS app, but they are not powerfull enough to compete the other systems . In the coming future , Apple aims to beat the current system of online payments used by big online retails companies and introduce a new system of with its new Bluetooth 4.0 powered iBeacons technology.
Apple is interested in experts in eCommerce, banking, retail, and card industries and lists various payment technologies including Chip&Pin, bank messaging specifications, country specific technologies such as EFTPOS (AUS) and Interac (CAN), and testing solutions used by Visa, Mastercard and others including ADVT, M-TIP, AEIPS, and Interac testing.
As Apple is experimenting its new Bluetooth 4.0 powered iBeacons technology in retail stores in US ,it is expected that in coming future many retail stores will adopt iBeacons technology and it is one of the basic reason for Apple to develop its own payment system like NFC-based Google Wallet.
