CRA Claims 1000 Canadian Tax ID Numbers Stolen From Data Base Due To Heartbleed Bug

Heartbleed bug - One of the biggest internet security bug that put the world into choas and targeting thousands of business running online and social media sites. Many websites reported about the bug last week and alert users to stay cautious and take security measure. Mashable shared " The Hit List of the websites" and alert users to change passwords for those sites. Today, we have one more news regarding Canadian Revenue Agency, who claims that 1000 Social Insurance Numbers were removed from there data base and they think Heartbleed is responsible for that.

According to CRA, The breach was observed after the world was known Heartbleed. CRA took sudden action action to secure users information and still worried about 1000 Tax ID numbers removed from the database. Who knows those 1000 id numbers could used in a wrong way, but CRA is taking actions to prevent users information.

In an official statement, CRA told that, soon after the news about Heartbleed was exposed, it removed public access to its online services, and still the tax payer info was removed in a brief 6 hours period. Well , Agency is now in the process of contacting affected individuals and providing credit protection services at no cost.
