How To Check iPhone Activation Lock Status

When you buy second hand smartphones especially iPhone you must check one thing before handing over your money to the person, which is Activation Lock Status. Apple has introduced a great anti theft Activation lock feature in the new iOS 7 which makes your phone secure from theft. If a person lost his iPhone or he is robbed, he can find his iPhone through activation lock status. This feature has to be manually switched on from Settings.

When a person switched on his Activation Lock from settings, it asks for Apple id and password and stores in the apple servers. If you are buying a second hand iPhone you must make sure that Activation locked is switched Off. Below is the simple way.

Apple has added a Activation Lock Status page on its website which tells you about your phone status using your iPhone IMEI number or serial number.

If you find the status as switched on , then you should not buy the iPhone from that person , it might be stolen or bought through some wrong means.
