Samsung Will Launch a New Wi-Fi Technology in 2015 That Speeds Up Wi-Fi Up To 5 Times Faster!

Wi-fi-technology

Samsung just announced that they will introduce a new Wi-Fi technology in 2015 that will increase the speed of Wi-Fi up to 5 times faster than what we currently have. Fastest Wi-Fi available speed today is 866Mbps (108MB per second) and with the introduction of Samsung’s 60GHz Wi-Fi technology, it will increase to 4.6Gbps (575MB per second). Samsung mentions that with 60GHz Wi-Fi technology a 1GB video will take less than 3 seconds to transfer between your smartphone and computer. Samsung also added that uncompressed high-definition video will now be able to stream without any kind of delay from your tablet on your TV in real time.

The problem with high speed data transfer is that 60GHz waves cannot pass through obstacles like walls, etc. This decreases the speed and limits the user to one specific area. Samsung is going to overcome this barrier by using new antennae and by eliminating co-channel interference. This 60 GHz Wi-Fi technology is not actually new or created by Samsung. It has been introduced before, like by Wilocity in their Wil6300 chipset which uses 60GHz band. But the obstacle problem still persisted, its commercial application could never be made as it was hard to incorporate into devices properly. Samsung managed to eliminate this problem with the use of Beam-forming antennas which will provide wide coverage with highest quality.

Samsung will be commercializing this new Wi-Fi technology in 2015 into many products including medical devices, audio visual devices, telecommunications equipment, and the Samsung Smart Home. The application is not limited to only this list, it is expected that Samsung will use the same technology in its other devices like smartphones etc, but we will have to wait for that like 1-2 years. Furthermore, as this technology is not invented by Samsung in the future we might see other companies using the same technology to create and provide better products and services.
