Facebook’s Messenger App exceeds 500 Million Monthly Active Users!

Facebook Messenger app
Facebook shared its Messenger app user number after few months after they stopped the use of Android and iPhone apps for messaging. This led to forcing people to use a standalone app as a messenger. Facebook revealed that each month 500+ million people are using messenger app.  If we compare this to Facebook’s other messaging app Whatsapp, which they acquired in February this year there is only a difference of approximately 100 million users as Whatsapp has 600 million users each month. This number involves all platforms users, Facebook still hasn’t revealed platform specific number, like we don’t know how many messenger app users are on iOS, Android or Windows Phone. The company also stated that the app will continue to "evolve and improve" so we should expect more features adding in future.

The app is currently not making any kind of money for the Social network giant, but they did hire PayPal CEO David Marcus, who might help find a better way to make money out of this. The company also believes that ads are not the best way to earn with this opportunity, they want to use payments as their way for earning money. Facebook aims to go for higher numbers with their Facebook Messenger app, similar to their current Facebook users that are over 1.35 billion monthly active users. Marcus said “We’re going for a billion”.
