Office Online now comes with Skype-Powered Chat

While working on documents, Microsoft Office online users will now be able to chat in real-time also. Microsoft has announced that a built-in Skype chat feature has been added to the browser version of the office online. The feature is named as Document Chat and currently it is only available for PowerPoint and word web apps, Excel and OneNote users will still have to wait as it will be available in the coming weeks. This new Skype-powered feature is similar to chat systems which are available in Outlook.com and OneDrive.

The working of this new feature is quite simple, there will be a chat button in the upper-right corner, and you can just click on it to start chatting with people working on the specific document. When you will click the button, other people working on the document will receive a chat notification, which they can accept to start chatting. Even if you leave the Document, you can still chat with the people you were chatting with on the document using Skype on any device like Desktop, Smartphone, Tablet, etc. Similar features are already provided by Google in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. It is worth noting that, this update came right after a few days when Microsoft updated Android Office App with easier OneDrive sharing and Dropbox support.
