Google Project Loon is currently the hot topic in which
helium Filled balloons are flying over the stratosphere. The main purpose of
these balloons is to provide internet access for all. There have been many
discoveries and improvements in the project. One of recent one is that Google
has found a way to keep the balloons in the air for longer than ever before.
The balloons could only stay for a limited amount of time in the air and had to
be re-deployed frequently. Now with the new discovery, these balloons can stay
in the air 10 times longer than what was possible in 2013. On average the
balloon can stay in the air for 100 days. Google says that the longest time is
130 days.
This increase in time is due to hundreds of discoveries that
have helped prevent leakage and also made Automated Manufacturing process
better. Along with better timing Google has also found a technology that auto
fills the balloons in just 5 minutes. According to Google, with the help of new
auto-fill technology they will have the ability to launch 20 balloons in one
day.
