Facebook’s New Feature Can Let Another Contact Manage Your Account After You Death

facebook security

Death is inevitable and one day we all have to leave this world, however, the question still remains – what is going to happen to our social media accounts? This question comes to many peoples’ mind but there is no satisfying answer to it. Facebook has just announced a new feature to give us the peace of mind, the feature will let you choose a contact who will be able to manage your Facebook account when you will pass away. The name of the feature is Legacy contact that will allow users to choose a contact whether it is family member or friend, who take care of the account when the inevitable happens.

With the help of this feature accounts will not be forgotten instead they will become a “memorial of their life, friendships and experiences.” As said by Facebook. When the Facebook will come to know that a user has passed away, they let the selected contact manage the account. The selected contact can change their picture, cover photo, respond to friend requests and also create a post on their timeline. The legacy contact will not have access to personal messages. If the user instead wants to delete their account after they pass away then Facebook will permanently delete their account when they will find out they have passed away.
