Mercedes-Benz Planning To Sell Branded Home Battery Packs Later This Year

It seems like car manufacture companies are taking a shift and entering in the home automation ground. You might be aware of Tesla's plan of making home batteries which will connect with both residential solar power systems as well as the traditional power grid and provide energy for home use when you face power outages. But wait, Tesla is not the only car manufacturer making home batteries. Mercedes seems like a new kid on the block. Mercedes-Benz also wants to give a run with its money and planning to sell branded home battery packs later this year.

The Mercedes-Benz Battery packs are quite similar to Tesla's as they are installed with special cells which were designed only for electric cars in mind. They will be capable of storing solar energy from the sun and use it when needed during a power outage or even if you want to save some money with bills, solar power home batteries are a great solution.

The company said, as much as eight such battery packs can be combined having a capability of 2.5 kWh each to achieve a complete backup capability of 20 kWh. This makes the battery packs perfect for house and business use though even greater capacity choices may be put together for purchasers wishing to utilize this at a very big scale.

Release date and cost of the Mercedes-Benz home battery is not yet known, however, pricing will be not be cheaper than $3,500 because Tesla's home batteries will be sold at that price tag.
