New York's two major commuter lines Long Island Railroad and Metro-North will now use digital tickets instead of Paper . New York Transit agency has announced to bring mobile ticketing to two of the major commuter lines in the region. Travelers commuting from Long island or Connecticut to Grand Central Manhattan can show digital tickets to conductors from their smartphone using Massabi's smartphone ticketing technology. After performing some tests MTA transit authority has signed a contract with Massabi to provide digital tickets on smartphone using special application. This is the best idea to save paper and commuters can easily purchase tickets through app rather than standing in long lines at the train station.

Massabi has not revealed more information regarding when the system will go live. Applications has to designed first which would allow users to purchase tickets online and they can show their online tickets to conductors and can keep the digital copy of the original ticket. Conductors will be scanning bar-codes present on the purchased tickets using scanning machines . The procedure will become very fast and easy for both commuter and train authorities.
Massabi has already been working on the same ticketing technology in London where several lines use digital ticketing technology. New Jersey has also launched the same type of ticketing technology called MyTix. Lets see when the service goes live and if the idea went successful , MTA might bring this technology to more subway lines and buses.
