Apple Store Apps labels have been changed from ‘Free’ to ‘Get’

If you visit the Apple Store today, you might see a small change. The way Apple labeled free apps and even the one which had in-app purchases has been changed from ‘Free’ to ‘Get’. But now the question is why would they change? Well, it definitely has something to do with the kids spending too much money on in-app purchases without the consent of parents. Apple has visited court many times due to this issue and ultimately had to return all the money which the kids spent on shady in app purchases. With the new store refresh all free apps with in-app purchases and even the one which don’t have in app purchases have been labeled as ‘Get’ instead of ‘Free’. This is similar to what Google did at the start of this year, as it removed all ‘free’ labels from Play Store and just used an ‘Install’ label to get an app.

Though this little change will not affect your app purchases in any way, so you should not worry when next time taping on ‘Get’ button. This change by Apple is only made to be more transparent with its customers so people and particularly parents could understand what these apps are and how these so called free apps work.
