Facebook is making its Privacy Policy Easier to Understand by Dumbing it Down

Facebook is trying to be clearer to help people understand how it collects data of its members. For this reason, Facebook has revealed that it has updated its data use policy, terms of service and cookies policy to make easier for end users to understand. The social media giant also released a tutorial that will help better understand this matter called Privacy Basics. This is a color-coded tutorial that will help users understand how to control their information on Facebook and it is also available in 36 different languages. The tutorial consists of answers to the most commonly asked questions regarding data control information.

Facebook’s previous privacy policy was quite long with total 9000 words, but now the new version consists of the same information but in only 27,00 words. The changes are only in the way Facebook will present its data collection and privacy policy. There are no actual changes in how Facebook will collect data or other privacy settings. Over the next seven days, Facebook is also inviting users to provide feedback on the mentioned changes. After reviewing all the feedback, Facebook will reveal a final version of this information which will take up to 30 days to take effect.

The reason why these changes are taking place is because most of the Americans were feeling that they have no control over their information which was being collected by other companies. Facebook just made it simple for users to understand how their privacy policy settings are and how they collect data works, so users would be able to use Facebook accordingly.
