Google will no longer be the Default search engine in Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla has announced a five-year deal with Yahoo in which the yahoo search engine will replace the Google search engine as default search engine. Mozilla CEO Chris Beard said on this matter that Google is being replaced with an enhanced version of Yahoo which will start in this December. According to Beard, the new Yahoo Search engine will provide a new experience with clean and modern interface. In the agreement, Yahoo also agreed to support Do Not Track (DNT) in Firefox. It is quite a good move from Yahoo as Yahoo stopped supporting Do Not Track in the past may.
It should be mentioned that Yahoo is only being set as a default search engine. Other search
engines like Google, Bing, Amazon, eBay, DuckDuckGo, Twitter and Wikipedia will
still be available as other search options. We still don’t know why this change
has been made and Beard also didn't elaborate why they made such a switch.
Beard only noted that as they are non-profit they need to make different
choices. However, the only good reason for such switch seems to be a better
offer from Yahoo. Yahoo must have made a better offer to Mozilla to get the top
spot.
