Pricing glitches is not that rare as one might think. Every
now and then this situation happens and customers get to purchase goods at
extremely low prices. However, in most cases the customer’s hopes are shattered
as companies just cancel the order with an apology. Well, now Amazon UK has
also become a victim of this issue. Reports claim that due to a software
glitch, all items sold by Third-Party vendors were set at a price of $0.01,
which is a steal for pretty much all types of goods. The error occurred due to Amazon
Marketplace’s Repricer Express system.
This software bug happened between 7 and 8PM GMT and
affected all items by Third-Party vendors during the duration. This means that
all sellers were just providing their products to Amazon to sell them for
almost free. Amazon immediately acknowledges the issue and even released a
statement on Sky News to clarify the issue. Amazon said “We are aware that a
number of Marketplace sellers listed incorrect prices for a short period of
time as a result of the third party software they use to price their items on
Amazon.co.uk.” Amazon also mentioned that all orders made during that time will
be canceled and most of them are canceled already.
